How to Become a Good Wine Taster - The following is excerpted from "Wine. Classification -- Wine Tasting -- Qualities and Defects", by Prof. G. GBAZZI-SONCINI, 1892, and still works today as a readable and enjoyable discussion as to how to improve one's wine-tasting skills. The experienced taster, when called upon to give his opinion, looks at and attentively examines the wine. He ... - 2012/05/23

HACIENDA DE LAS ROSAS WINERY Tasting Room - We hadn't stopped by the Hacienda de las Rosas tasting room for six months or so, and found lots new when we did. For starters there's a clean, bright 2009 Santa Barbara Chardonnay. Next we tried the very unique estate-grown Mission-Grenache blend; these grape varietals go back to the earliest days of winemaking in San Diego County. The ... - 2012/05/22

MAHOGANY MOUNTAIN VINEYARD AND WINERY - Last weekend Mahogany Mountain Vineyards and Winery invited wine club members and friends to try five new releases - all 100% varietals from the Ramona AVA, vintage 2009. A nice dry Barbera has the tannin structure to compliment red meats or rich pasta dishes. The Mourvedre, light and fruit forward, moved our palates ... - 2012/05/22

What is a "Claret"? - The following is adapted from "Jack's Manual On the Vintage and Production, Care, and Handling of Wines, Liquors, Etc.", by J. A. GROHUSKO; subtitled "A HANDBOOK OF INFORMATION FOR HOME, CLUB OR HOTEL"; Third Edition, 1910. It presents a straightforward definition of the term "claret" from the 19th century, and gives specific instructions for cell... - 2012/05/22

Oregon Wine Review 2007 WillaKenzie Estate, Estate Cuvee Pinot Noir - Our next wine, a 2007 WillaKenzie Estate, Estate Cuvee Pinot Noir, comes to us from the Willamette Valley of Oregon. The Willamette Valley, south of Portland, is one of the most well known regions and home to many of the top wineries. The climate has been compared to Burgundy, France due to the amount of rainfall and cool weather received. Accordi... - 2012/05/20

Chasing the Yellow tail - You might have seen the ads on TV.  "go-to...  house party.  I'll have... the yellow tail."  Aimed at the younger upscale adult, this wine is currently very popular and easy to find.  It's also affordable, at around $7-8 a bottle. Well, let's give it a try...  I'll have the yellow tail. Specifically, a non-vintage Cab... - 2012/05/20

I like wine by wine (04/20/2011 15:42:06)

So I thought I'd post a little article here to let teh world know that I like wine.  I like red inwe mainly, though a good citrusy sauvignon blanc in the summer is a nice treat.

Pinot Noir is probably my favorite, but zinfandel and cabernet would be close seconds.
