This ring has genealogy and other sites with a link to India. My father was born in India and he and his father were commissioned officers in the Indian Army circa 1910 - 1930's, so I have a great interest in many of the sites in this ring.

My Love of Old Photos - I love old photos, especially when they are of my family.   I know that I've said it before.  In reading some of the old letters that I have, I found a wonderful comment about photos made by my great, great uncle. "It is a most useful art, this photographing, by which one can from one end of the world to the other [send] a pretty cor... - 2012/05/12

The Essence of Genealogy - Here you will find a poem that I found in a "Birthday Book" that belonged to my Grandma. It was the book's dedication by Rev. Hugo W. Hoffmann. I think it represents some of what genealogy is all about. "If stories of dry and learned lore we gain, We keep them in the memory of the brain; Names, things, and facts - whate'er we knowledge call - Ther... - 2012/05/09

In the stone breakers' yard: 3 May - 12 May 1916 - On this day, 3 May 1916, in the stone breakers' yard of Kilmainham Gaol Dublin, three men were executed by firing squad for their roles as leaders of the Easter Rising. The three were Padráig (Patrick) Pearse, Thomas Clarke, and Thomas MacDonagh. For many, Pearse is probably the best known of the leaders, since it was he who read the Proclamation ... - 2012/05/03

O'Brien's in Ireland to Australia and onto California - Part 6 - At this point in the game, I hope for more information about Kate O'Brien's family in Australia.  I certainly long to know her full origins in Ireland.  What I have is a good start.  Photos are always one of my favorite parts of genealogy. The following is a Flanagan photo but in reality all of the people in this photo are also O'Bri... - 2012/05/02

'To grandmother's house I go...' - When I was a young child at school, it seemed to me as though I was the only one without a grandmother, and I felt this absence keenly. Even those children who had lost their parents, somehow managed to hang on to their grandmothers. Some were being raised by them; some had their grandmothers living close by, or at most a few miles away. It was eas... - 2012/04/30

Calcutta 1940s
We are a group interested in finding out more and presenting the history, life and culture of the Calcutta of the 1940s. On our site, we want to lay out as detailed a picture as possible of Calcutta in the 1940s, surely one of the most dramatic in Calcutta’s turbulent history, and a decade where many changes occurred which have moulded the Calcutta we know today.
Indian Cemeteries
The Indian-cemeteries web site is attempting to preserve the image of graves and monuments before they disappear. It is hoped that they will be useful to historians and genealogists, as well as serve to remember those whom they commemorate. It covers the area which used to be British India and includes present-day India, Pakistan and Bagladesh, and monuments cover all nationalities%2
