The year is 1992 and the Cold War was just officially declared over. The 90's are promising to bring hope, prosperity, and peace to the United States and the rest of the world. With no clear enemy to fear and no country powerful/aggressive enough to pose a threat to any other, humanity breathes a sigh of relief.

And humanity has always been ignorant of what exists all around them.

From all corners of existence evil forces work against each other to gain control over humanity. The malevolent Mephisto hatches a new plan to capture the souls of New York City. While vampires stalk the city, seeking to feed on the unsuspecting throng. The Maggia work to rule the underground while a greater threat in the form of HYDRA works to secretly control all branches of government.

Now, while a distracted and unaware humanity are fed on one at a time, what hope exists for its survival?

A ridiculously underfunded quasi-government program called S.H.I.E.L.D? An underground society of mutants calling themselves Morlocks? So called Superheroes who must register with the government in order to be placed on the payroll? Lone vigilantes out there taking justice in their own hands?

Humanity's chances of survival seem slim. The deck is stacked against The Empire City and the rest of the world. Such has always been the way in this Eighth Circle of Hell.

Clark Kent quits Daily Planet

In this month?'s edition of Superman, Clark Kent rants about the newspaper's declining journalistic standards and walks out in front of the entire staff.

It is speculated that Kent won't be looking for another newspaper job but is more likely to start the next Huffington Post or the next Drudge Report than he is to go find someone else to get assignments or draw a paycheque from.

The Blackhawks were seven flyers led by Bart Hawk who banded together during WW II to fight the Nazis. They first appeared in Military Comics no.1 (August 1941) and last appeared in Blackhawk no.273 (November 1984)

In 1952, Columbia produced a 15-part movie serial based on the comic. It starred Kirk Alyn as Blackhawk (shown above), best known for being the first actor to play Superman on screen, in the 1948 film serial Superman.
