In 1955 the Southern region of British Railways built Diesel multiple units for their non electrified lines. The units were based on existing EMU's with the addition of English Electric 4SKRT fitted in one vehicle. This site shows a breif history and images of many of the survivors whic are still in service 45 years after the first units were built
