Untitled document

Find in this ring costume rental stores, clothing shops, theatrical costumers and fashion history sites:  all things sartorial.  Pictured, clockwise from top left:  Deborah Kerr in "Black Narcissus," Elizabeth Taylor in "Cleopatra," Gene Autry in "The Black Rider" and Sarah Bernhardt as Hamlet in "Hamlet":  all dressed a little differently than you'd find them on the street.  On the NavBar:  Eva Gauthier in a Javanese headdress.

Dyeing is usual with colour - 06/14/2013

Yep, I am so happy today I got to dye my fabric red! Not having coloured linen in stock is not a problem when you can buy Rit dye in powder.  Add the dye to a tub of hot water in your washing machine, add a cup of salt and a capful of washing detergent for the linen or cotton and agitate for a minute or two to dissolve. Next add your pre-shrunk fabric and agitate for 30 minutes.  I have a twin tub so I drained the dye bath from the washing machine and kept rinsing the linen until the water from the fabric ran clear.  I then spun out the fabric and placed in the dryer to dry. Then I cleaned out my washing machine so my next wash wouldn't be pink! So now I have some lovely scarlet coloured linen to make my bi-coloured surcoat with! VERY IMPORTANT: After dyeing fabric thoroughly clean out your washing machine straight away by adding some bleach to a dummy wash. Empty your lint filter and give it a really good clean. Wash down the inside of your washing machine to remove dye residue from the inside of the wash tub. Keep doing dummy washes until your machine sump water runs clear.
