Carved Irish Tree of Life Pendant on Emerald Green Recycled Silk Ribbon - 07/21/2013

$ 25.00 USD   -  Only 1 available Available for Purchase Now on Etsy This pendant was carved from the wood of a fallen tree branch that was collected by my family, during one of our walks. It has been carved in relief with the Celtic Tree of Life or Crann Bethadh (in Irish Gaelic), which is a winding mass of vines, looping in and around itself, emanating from a small pot or cauldron. I left a bit of the tree bark showing at the sides of the pendant for it's wonderful color. The piece has been oiled with a handmade, natural, beeswax wood conditioner (purchased from a fellow Etsy seller), and then hung from an emerald green recycled silk ribbon. The pendant measures 3.5" tall and the ribbon measures approximately 17" in total circumference. Trees are of central importance in Celtic culture, in ancient belief, trees were the ancestors of mankind, they provide a doorway to the other realms, and among other things, hold magical properties... The ‘Tree of Life’ is an esoteric philosophy common to many cultures and mythologies. The entire cosmos in the form of a tree whose roots grow deep in the ground, and whose branches reach high into the heavens. Involved in the creation of the universe and the origin of the first man and woman. The pot represents the Source, also symbolized as the Grail, or Cauldron of Regeneration in Celtic mythology.
